What is the difference between your two apps: TTSReaderVoiceAloudReader and audiobooks-ai?

I noticed the two voices I used the most disappeared from the TTS Reader app, Shimmer and Onyx. They weren't present in the newer one either besides being preview voices. I paid for a subscription in the TTSReader app, but I feel stopped considering the voices I used aren't present anymore.

    Difference between the two apps

    TTSReader: Voice Aloud Reader and Audiobooks AI are separate apps with different goal.


    About your subscription

    Your paid subscription in TTSReader mainly provides:

    • Unlimited books / content imports

    • Higher usage limits (rate limits)

    • Ad removal and paywall removal

    • Priority support

    It’s important to clarify that a subscription does not lock specific voices permanently.

    The voices you mentioned (like Shimmer and Onyx) are provided by third-party voice API providers. Unfortunately:

    • Voice availability can change or be restricted by the provider

    • We don’t fully control when voices are removed, limited, or moved to preview-only

    • When providers change terms, pricing, or licensing, we’re required to adapt

    I know this isn’t ideal — and I agree it’s frustrating when a favorite voice disappears.

    We actively try to add new high-quality voices and restore removed ones when possible, but we can’t guarantee long-term availability of any specific voice.
